BIOGRAPHY

Scarlett Yang is a creative technologist working across materials science, engineering-led prototyping, and computational media. Her practice moves between scientific inquiry, sensory experience, and cultural imagination, exploring how materials register environmental change and open new ways of sensing ecological futures.

Alongside her independent studio practice, Yang undertakes selected collaborations with cultural institutions, foundations, and industry partners, applying material and technological research to public engagement, cultural production, and future-facing inquiry. She holds a background in design and engineering from the Royal College of Art and Imperial College London, and serves as an appointed expert member of the UK Design Council.

Her work has been exhibited internationally, including at the V&A and Somerset House, and is held in the collection of Wereldmuseum. She has been featured in the Financial Times, WIRED, and Vogue, and is a recipient of the LVMH Green Trail Award.
